Make sure to use fresh herbs and seasonings whenever cooking a simple dish. Dried herbs, such as oregano and basil. are only good for dishes that are complex and have many different flavors going on. Fresh herbs though, are optimal to use if you want a more natural taste when consuming. Cultivating an herb garden on your patio or deck, or even in your kitchen, will make it easy to snip fresh herbs whenever you need them.

To have more juice come out of your citrus fruit, microwave the fruit some before juicing. Place your fruit in the microwave and set it to microwave for ten seconds. After the fruit is done microwaving, roll it on the counter before you cut it.

Avoid overcooking or undercooking a cake. The times that they recommend for cake baking can be wrong due to several factors. You need to push a toothpick into the center of the cake. If no undone cake batter remains on the toothpick, you can consider it ready.
